Heather's Story

Heather’s experience as a strategic planning facilitator, career advancement advisor, and learning and development professional spans over 25 years and multiple sectors such as financial services (with Canada’s major banks and credit unions), mental health care, not-for-profit (including performing arts and VAW services), hospitality, retail, corporate law, engineering, and management consulting. More recent assignments have focused on assisting nonprofit leaders in aligning strategy with business management to satisfy multiple stakeholders (including funders) amid shifting priorities such as post-pandemic response. Clients often cite Heather’s senior-level experience in operations and governance roles as essential in guiding leaders to achieve results collaboratively.

Hailing from New Brunswick, Canada, Heather has proudly served in numerous volunteer capacities at both the executive and committee levels. She is President of the Toronto Consort, Canada’s award-winning Early Music ensemble, and host of the streaming platform EarlyMusic.TV. Most recently, Heather was Global President and Executive Director of the Association of Career Professionals (ACP) International, a Washington, DC - based professional development organization, and Past Chair of the Board of FAME (Family Association for Mental Health Everywhere). She led strategic planning projects in all three organizations that engaged multiple stakeholders in collaborating to realize complex mandates.

She has also contributed in various capacities (facilitator and report author) to the IEP Conference, the Toronto-based annual forum for Internationally Educated Professionals.

Her approach and philosophy draw upon the discipline of the martial arts: Heather is a world champion gold medalist and 6th degree Black Belt Martial Artist (Renshi). In addition to designing and facilitating personal safety and Empowerment Self-Defense (ESD) programming for community organizations, she serves as Country Manager for PAVE Prevention Inc. (Proactive Antiviolence Education), a Chicago-based social enterprise offering customized learning and human development solutions for leaders and organizations everywhere wanting safer, more productive workplaces.
